A DIFFERENT APPROACH TO PILATES
Pilates Evolved offers both classical Pilates and a modified form of Pilates, known as Clinical Pilates. This modified version of Pilates is based on the most up to date evidence on spinal stability, and pelvic stability. It is based on the traditional Pilates repertoire and shares the same objective of Classical Pilates, to restore optimum function and movement to the body. APPI Pilates offers variations on the Classical Pilates moves at definable levels that are suitable for all ages, fitness levels and abilities.
Clinical Pilates is ideal for beginners as it enables you to learn the fundamentals in a safe and effective way. The Absolute Beginners course and beginner-level classes focus on these modified moves, with the aim of then introducing the more classical and challenging moves when appropriate.
The APPI Pilates method is taught in standing, sitting and lying positions. The repertoire of moves include specific Pilates exercises to improve spinal mobility, flexibility of the key trunk muscles, body awareness and posture. All exercises are performed in a very precise and fluid manner, with a slow and controlled approach that brings long-term results.
APPI Clinical Pilates is an ideal fitness regime for athletes looking to enhance their performance and avoid injury. It is included in the training programmes of many Premier League football clubs and APPI trained teachers work alongside a diverse range of professions, from Cirque du Soleil to the UK Olympic team. The APPI Clinical Pilates programme is delivered across the NHS, the Armed Forces and also in many UK Police Forces.
'Physical Fitness is the first requisite of happiness' - Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a movement system that works to restore whole body health, by renewing vitality and conditioning the body equally in strength and flexibility. Originally termed ‘Contrology’ by German born Joseph Pilates, Pilates used both mat exercises and studio equipment to challenge the mind and body in unison and to craft strong, healthy bodies that were resilient to the ravages of time and demands of life. One only needs to look at a picture of Joseph Pilates at 80 to see proof of Pilates in practice.
Joseph Pilates created a set of 34 exercises that were to be followed in a particular order and fashion to warm up the body appropriately, to challenge and to cool the body down. Exercises at the beginning of the 34 prepared you mentally and physically for those further down the list. Classical Pilates classes focus on the 34 original moves within the classical repertoire. They explore your full potential, work to restore balance and optimum alignment of the body, and seek to restore physical and mental vitality. It is our mission to encourage all individuals to enjoy the diverse range of benefits that Pilates offers, to restore joy of movement and to progress as many clients as are able towards the original Pilates moves.
